Welcome: This Site is dedicated to the men and woman who volunteer their time to keep the USS Cassin Young looking like the beautiful lady that she is. The dedicatedContact Cassin Young Volunteers group who tour, scrape, paint, clean, and maintain her for no other reason than to help.

 


Ship Update:


The USS Cassin Young is closed for the winter from December 1, 2013 till March 31, 2014.
Weather Permitting the Ship will be open by the Volunteers on Saturdays in March.
Thanks to BNHP management for trusting in the Volunteers to open the ship.

The USS Cassin Young DD-793 is a Fletcher Class Destroyer that served with distinction from 1943 till her retirement in 1960, along the way she was involved in a World War, a Police Action and a Cold War.

Navy Yard

East Boston Berth July-Sept '13

Cassin Young moved temporarily to East Boston until her regular berth in the Charlestown Navy yard was finished.

Navy Yard

Boston/Charlestown Navy Yard

The Charlestown Navy Yard was one of the original 6 navy yards established by the US Navy in 1800.  The yard served the US Navy for 174 years until its closing in 1974. Today most of the yard is publicly owned, with the exception of approximately 27 acres preserved by the NPS.
